Loved this bakery’s creative flavors! We tried the kimchi and spicy pork—both were full of bold, tasty surprises. The Earl Grey lychee Danish was also amazing—light, fragrant, and not too sweet. A must-visit for anyone who enjoys unique baked goods with a Korean twist.
Excellent pastries, with a broad range of savoury and sweet. I find the set up here neat, organised. Flavour preference comes down to what you feel like, we found all our choices delicious: Truffle onion & cheese, bbq pork, and earl grey crème. Most items sold out by the end of the day. We came on a weekday around lunch time and just missed out on the Wagyu. Early bird catches the worm. The drinks are also worth getting. Enjoyed their rich hot chocolate! There’s outdoor and indoor seating that’s cosy, and service is patient and courteous.
Moon Phase has become my go-to spot for croissants and coffee. I stop by at least twice a month—it's hard to resist once you're hooked by the smell drifting out the door. Their signature chocolate bar and the Earl Grey lychee are absolute must-tries. Paired with their consistently great coffee, it’s a simple pleasure I keep coming back for.
Terrific hole in the wall cafe. The pastries are well crafted and taste terrific. Their coffee is also amazing. The space is bustling with atmosphere of the staff working but quiet enough to enjoy your your own space. I hope it doesn't get too popular as it's just a perfect local cafe to visit. Edit 20 march visit. This place is just terrific and consistent. They have high standards for good quality pastries and coffee. The owner refused to give me a pastry that appeared too soft and I appreciated the honesty.
Super unique Korean styles pastries! They warmed up my ham and cheese really well and it made it super yummy! I liked the texture and crunch of it. The lychee dessert had real fruit which made it quite delicious. It also wasn’t too sweet. Sesame latte was ok but I think their coffees are better Just wish the chairs were a bit more comfortable and also not sure if there’s a washroom
Super crispy croissant pastry. Stand out was the char siu pork. Decent coffee. Make sure to come earlier in the day as they sell out quickly and there are fewer options in the afternoon.
Moon Phase in St Leonards delivered an outstanding experience, both in flavour and presentation. The Maple Latte was exceptionally well-balanced, offering a rich, smooth coffee base complemented by the gentle sweetness of maple. The flavour was indulgent without being overpowering, and the texture was creamy, smooth, and deeply satisfying. The Strawberry Croissant showcased excellent craftsmanship. Its exterior was crisp and flaky, giving way to tender, buttery layers inside. On top, diced strawberries, cream dollops, and custard were artfully piped, adding colour, freshness, and a luxurious mouthfeel. The strawberry filling itself had a fresh, natural sweetness that paired perfectly with the pastry’s rich flavour profile. The balance between crispness and softness was particularly noteworthy and very enjoyable. The highlight, however, was the Pistachio Croissant. Unlike the traditional crescent shape, this one was stretched into a beautiful swirl, giving it a distinctive appearance and even baking throughout. The pastry was light and delicate, encasing a generous pistachio filling that was aromatic, nutty, and subtly sweet. The flavours were refined and harmonious, with just the right level of richness. My partner, who is not typically drawn to pistachio pastries, described it as the best they have ever tasted, without hesitation or doubt. Overall, Moon Phase delivers pastries and coffee of exceptional quality, with a clear emphasis on balance, texture, and flavour. From the first sip to the last bite, every element reflected careful attention to detail and a commitment to excellence. Highly recommended for those seeking a premium pastry and coffee experience in Sydney’s vibrant café scene.
